Easter Sunday has been a busy day starting with brunch with friends at Teuchters Landing (bacon buttie for me, bacon and haggis buttie for Mr E and porridge with jam for Mini-M). After that came egg hunting, egg and spoon races, beer bottling and chicken de-boning!!!
Oops! I took so many photos yesterday they ended up getting a whole blog post to themselves - and I forgot to post any here... So here's yesterday's picture today.
Admittedly this photo looks like we keep Mini-M caged (!) and is also out of focus. But the point is all of the socks in her washing bin. Whilst 'napping' she got up silently, opened her wardrobe, took out the socks and pants boxes, sorted the socks and put all the ones she didn't like into the washing bin. Then climbed back into bed and went to sleep. Clearly stripes were out of favour yesterday!

Oh dear - the clothes tree is getting precarious... I see some Easter weekend tidying on the horizon!
A photo of shame tonight - I skipped zumba-ing and swapped it for sitting knitting on the sofa wrapped up in a tartan picnic rug like an old person! The thought of having to leave the house again after I'd finally got warmed up was too much!
Snow at Fountains Abbey - picturesque but very cold! We managed to convince ourselves that tramping about in the snow most definitely burned off the cooked breakfast!
Catching up in our B & B in Northallerton - a bottle of wine, snacks, an extra duvet and a giant TV to watch Grand Designs on - the new 'going out'!
This is what happens when I'm left unsupervised for an evening - I seem to have accidentally dyed my hair purple!
Post dinner stickering - tonight it seemed to be Dress the Gaucho. In the end Mini-M decided the horse might have cold legs and so it ended up wearing trousers.
Geeky blogger excitement - I got sent some samples to review - well not strictly review since I already know they are awesome - but to do some creative baking with. Time to think inspirational thoughts...
Today Mr E and assorted other friends and family members were running in the Deerstalker adventure race. The rest of us were there to cheer them on. Here's Mini-M and her favourite partner in crime making a break for it!
This evening was spent making Scottish style mashed potato macaroons which should provide a pre or post race sugar boost for the deerstalker runners on Saturday! I just need to remember to dip them in chocolate and coconut tomorrow night...
This week is really plumbing new depths of photo taking. Tonight we have the 'I have just got warm in bed I'm not getting out again' shot. Will try to do better tomorrow! (Although I'm sure I said that yesterday too...)
Early-ish bed with hot water bottle and book after a day featuring far too much driving about in crazy snow. Took 90 minutes to go 9 miles this morning - a new commuting low!
Among other things, today we ended up at the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championship. Mini-M liked the piping and enthusiastically clapped her hands, stamped her feet and sung The Wheels On The Bus along with the music (Note - they were not playing said song obviously!) Thank goodness it was easily loud enough to drown her out...
Today was the mummy school Christmas party - a mere three months later than originally planned. There was a secret Santa and Mini-M was given some awesome chocolate scented glittery playdough (plus the recipe to recreate it) and not only that but it came with mini cupcake cases and extra 'sprinkles'. I think her mind was well and truly blown by the wild animal sequins! Elephants mummy! And horses!

I'm on flexi today and went for an eye test. Mini-M was my frame fashion advisor and loved trying them on too!
This afternoon Mini-M and Mr E baked chocolate orange loaf cake. Here's the head chef getting stuck in! She was adamant this was the recipe she wanted to make despite not really liking chocolate, then after a couple of adventurous bites cried because it wasn't nice. Thankfully a strategic swap for a little bit of Bakewell slice seemed to help getting over the disappointment!
Today was a team workshop day - our meeting room was in a conservatory and the sun shone, so despite the fact we were indoors and discussing work, it felt a bit like summer!

4 Malawi themed cakes made during the leader selection weekend for the next Borders Exploration Group trip which is (surprise surprise) going to Malawi in 2014 - or indeed perhaps time traveling back to 2004 depending on your choice of cake!
