Saturday 27 July 2013

27th July

The last of the run of summer birthday parties - it's 1 a week from the end of June to the end of July!
There was much bouncing...

26th July

A scorching hot day at the Border Union Show - zonked out in the buggy.

25th July

After almost 11hrs at work (!) a lovely evening was spent catching up with a friend, with good food and good chat - just what was needed. As usual, no photos taken of any of the interesting parts of the day though - this was just as I was leaving to drive back to Leith from Currie.

24th July

Uncle P kindly babysat so that Mr E and I could go out and have a civilised drink to celebrate my birthday. Cider and ice, pistachio nuts and much circling and discussing of Fringe shows, and Sofi's Bar. A lovely evening.

Tuesday 23 July 2013

23rd July

Mini-M modelling a birthday present chosen by Grandad A. According to Mini-M it is a "bonnie rugby shirt" at which point she found her own description so funny she laughed so much she gave herself hiccups!

22nd July

Mini-M is 3 - craziness!

21st July

After spending until 1am decorating Mini-M's hello kitty birthday cake I felt a little haunted when the first round of the pub quiz was cartoon cats!

Saturday 20 July 2013

20th July

"Dirty Pirate Popsicles" made as a birthday surprise by Mr E (for me) as well as an awesome treasure hunt around Leith (for Mini-M). The popsicles are definitely not for Mini-M - there's cola, coffee, vodka and southern comfort in them!

19th July

Flamingo drawing fail. This is a fat pink goose / seagull hybrid by the look of it. Not so great for 'pin the feather on the Flamingo'! Hopefully my attempt on the other side will be more successful...

Wednesday 17 July 2013

17th July

Feeling weirdly Polish and Christmassy (!) after icing these gingerbread biscuits for birthday party favours in preparation for Mini-M's 3rd birthday party at the weekend.

16th July

Mini-M bouncing on the bed with rabbit. Giraffe and mousey are waiting their turns... You know it's going to be an energetic day with it begins with pre-nursery 7:30am bed bouncing!

15th July

There have been a couple of new additions to our picture wall recently, since whilst clearing our junk out of Mini-M's new toy cupboard, we found both a box of picture frames and a box of pictures, and decided to unite some of them!

Sunday 14 July 2013

14th July

The swanfield street sign on the way home from the pub quiz where a rather depleted Mummy School team (all 2 of us!) managed to defend our honour by not coming last.

13th July

Pirates ahoy!

12th July

Mini-M's new favourite mode of transport - a double grandparent sedan chair! (Just to clarify, Grandad A is wearing Mini-M's hat - hot pink isn't his usual colour...

11th July

Mini-M dressed as subtly as ever...

Wednesday 10 July 2013

10th July

Mini-M's birthday present arrived today. Mr E has "hidden" it under the laundry bin... I suspect she might notice!

Tuesday 9 July 2013

9th July

Hottest day in a long time today - car thermometer said 31C when I left work - how very un-Scottish!

Monday 8 July 2013

8th July

This evening mainly involved sorting out piles of paperwork - I found this amongst it - some distracted doodling.

Sunday 7 July 2013

7th July

A divide and conquer day - Mr E dropped myself and Mini-M at the zoo before hitting IKEA for some bookcases. We figured we should get in another zoo whilst Mini-M was still under 3 (just!) and therefore free. The face painting queue wasn't too busy as we got there fairly early, so meet Mini-M the panda...

Saturday 6 July 2013

6th July

Super sunshiney day - almost all of it spent out enjoying another lovely 3rd birthday party, then chilling out with friends in the park. Did I take any easy-to-upload phone photos? Nope! So instead here's one of some pretend shop playing when we got home.

Friday 5 July 2013

5th July

Mini-M in full on model pose! Captured accidentally - she was actually concentrating on balancing. Best quote of the day at the park... "Daddy come and catch me, I'm going to be doing dangerous things" (aka going headfirst down the slide it turned out). Thankfully bare legs are fairly high friction, so not that dangerous.

4th July

Mr E doing a beer check - and the prognosis for this batch is a bit dubious!

3rd July

Bento picnic box for tea for Mini-M as the lovely Auntie L did the nursery pick-up to allow some deadlines to be met at work. It was a hit and all eaten up.

2nd July

Oops - another photo-less day - blaming too many looooooong days at work.
So one of the Stockbridge duck race from the 30th (and some very wonky bunches!)

1st July

Ukelele time! (Bob the Builder, sung loudly, with unrelated chords)

30th June

Mini-M and Mini-H dancing at Stockbridge Market, after watching the duck race get underway.

29th June

Birthday party time - a lovely teddy bear's picnic themed one - Mini-M brought giraffe as her teddy - it had an awesome time too!

28th June

Tonight's post-tea pre-bed activity was birthday card making. Mini-M got so into it that we skipped showering for extra gluing time. I'm sure going to bed with a light covering of Pritt stick and felt tip pens is healthy...

27th June

Mr E has been home-brewing with Mr H. With labels and everything!

26th June

It's birthday party season - and so obviously Hello Kitty is involved...!

25th June

Hearty broth you could stand your spoon up in!

24th June

After Mini-M finished her pre-bed shower, she left it like this!

23rd June

We brought the rain home with us from our holidays - it followed us up the UK from the channel - literally! We kept thinking we could see clearer skies up ahead but we never got there.

22nd June

A meaty beef bone bargain!

21st June

Getting stuck in to some building at the Legoland Discovery Centre, Manchester. Think Mr E had at least as much fun, if not more, than Mini-M

Thursday 4 July 2013

20th June

Hello ducky! (One of a very large number at Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre)

19th June

Posing for a picture on the return ferry - and looking very like a little Auntie L!

18th June

Mini-M intrepidly trying some artichoke. She gave it a good chew, but decided that her considered opinion was 'Yucky'. Mr E was inclined to agree...
